Dr. Amy Wandel is a Sacramento plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Wandel graduated at the top of her class at the University of California, Berkeley, and attended medical school at the Rosalind Franklin University of Health Sciences on a full Naval scholarship.
As a Navy general surgeon, Dr. Wandel volunteered on multiple medical missions in the jungles surrounding the military base. When Dr. Wandel later returned to the United States, she entered a plastic surgery residency at Brown University. She worked at the San Diego Naval Medical Center for 14 years, treating many military personnel who were severely wounded in the Iraq war. She also helped to found Women for World Health, helping with medical missions in third-world countries.
Now, as a plastic surgeon with Mercy Medical Group, she still gets to help people in need.
"Through plastic surgery,” Dr. Wandel says, “we can actively participate in the improvement of someone's life and sense of well-being,"
Dr. Wandel particularly enjoys her reconstructive work that includes helping children with cleft palates, correcting congenital and trauma deformities and aiding women with post-cancer breast reconstruction.
Dr. Wandel is board-certified in both plastic surgery and general surgery and is one of two Sacramento plastic surgeons on the Mercy Medical Group Plastic Surgery team.
